The Cedar Rapids Bulldogs was formed to develop potential for the game of basketball,
teach fundamentals of the competitive game and instill sportsmanship, teamwork, loyalty, and pride.
It is available to girls in 3rd-8th grades who plan on attending Xavier High School. The organization’s
intent is to serve as a developmental program for Xavier High School but is not under the direction of
their administration or staff.
Being a Bulldog member is not a requirement to participate in Xavier Basketball.

- 3rd Grade Bulldogs - (posted 3/10/12)
Great news!! We have found coaches and will be starting up a 3rd grade team for the Bulldogs
next season, for those of you who may have 2nd graders or know anyone who has a 2nd grade
girl that may be interested in try outs for the 3rd grade team next season, try outs are open
to sign up with the link below.
- Coaches will be two former Bulldog players who played basketball under Coach Lilly for
Xavier High School. They both graduated from college and are working full time jobs in the
area. One is currently an assistant coach for the Xavier girls basketball program.
- We will be selecting a maximum of 18-20 girls for the team from try outs and will break them
into 2 teams during the season just like the other grade levels. Try-outs are required to be
part of the team.
- Practice will be 2 times per week for 1 1/2 hours each practice.
- We will be signing up for the Salvation Army League for games for 2nd session only
(which runs January-February) there will be NO 1st session league games for this grade level
as they will be working on skills/fundamentals the first half of the season.
- Will be participating in 1 tournament per month beginning in November or December
(will be up to the coaches as to which month to begin) tournaments will be on weekends-typically
1 day tourneys and will stay local, no overnight travel will be required.
- We will plan on having our own 3rd grade Bulldog tournament in late February at the end of the season.
- Hot Summer Nights League - (posted 3/15/12)
Registration for the Hot Summer Night League at Regis has begun.
We will once again be sponsoring a summer
basketball league for girls entering 6th - 8th grade. Registration information
is available by

2012 Hot Summer Nights League information:
- The league is for girls entering grades 6th -8th grade (present 5th - 7th graders.)
- Games will be played at Regis Middle School on Wednesday nights for 6 weeks starting
June 13th (skipping Wednesday, July 4th of course.) The last game of the season will
be on July 25th.
- Game times will be between 5- 8 p.m. and will follow Salvation Army rules,
with 18:00 continuous clock. Certified officials will call each game.
We will only be able to accept 16 teams. In past years we have had more entries
than spots available.
